Niantic’s launching an Adventure Sync feature in its augmented reality games that syncs with Google Fit and iOS’ HealthKit to translate steps into game progress. This works without even opening the Pokémon Go App or your smartwatch. If you exercise regularly, you will get more Pokémon candy or more efficient egg hatching. You’ll get weekly milestones, too.

Pokémon Go

Adventure Sync will be available to players around the globe. The feature is as much about promoting healthy activity as it is frequent gameplay. It wouldn’t be surprising if IngressHarry Potter: Wizards Unite and similar titles use it in the future.

Niantic worked very hard this summer to ensure trainers played Pokemon Go all summer long. They did this by implementing the “Global Challenge”. If trainers completed these challenges by working together by completing “Quests” they would unlock incredible bonuses such as extra experience, stardust and legendary Pokemon. Niantic also teased that if we all worked together to complete each of these challenges we would unlock an “Ultra Bonus”. With all of the challenges completed Niantic finally revealed what bonuses we have unlocked.

What are the bonuses?:

Regionals in 7km eggs:

Pokemon that can only found in specific regions of the world will be available in eggs you can get by opening gifts from your friends. Those Pokemon are as follows:

  • Mr. Mime
  • Kangaskhan
  • Farfetch’d
  • Tauros

This is incredible important because it will help those who cannot travel abroad complete their Pokedex. This perk will be in affect from September 13th to the 30th.

Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno are back in raids!

The legendary birds are back and their shinies are too! Between the dates of September 13th to the 20th these three great birds will be hatching from 5 star raid eggs. Get your friends and check your local gyms because you won’t want to miss out on these awesome Pokemon.

Mewtwo will be a 5 star raid boss!

Mewtwo will be leaving EX raids for the first time since its release last year! From September 20th to October 23rd Mewtwo will be able to be battled by anyone who can beat it. This means all you will need is a daily or premium raid pass. Just make sure you have enough friends to take it down! We are unsure if this means Mewtwo will have its shiny form released. Being as this may it’s nice that more people will be able to get this powerful creature.

Mewtwo
Increased Kanto Spawns:

Non-legendary and non-regional variants (unless they normally spawn in your region) of the original 151 Pokemon will be spawning in increased number. This is exciting for players who may be new, hunting for shinies, or just like the original 151 Pokemon. This perk will last from September 13th to September 30th.

My Thoughts:

For those of you who don’t know I have been playing Pokemon Go since day one. I’m level 37, nearly 38 and try to play everyday, even if I just get my daily bonus. The parts of the game I enjoy the most are completing my Pokedex and getting shiny (alternate colored) Pokemon.

The Good:

The rest of this is honestly fantastic. I love that I get the chance to complete my Kanto portion of the Pokedex with the 7km eggs. This means I won’t need to depend on trades from those who have been to the regions these Pokemon are or traveling there myself. I hope this means we will see other regional Pokemon making there way to everyone in this manner.

Kanto Pokemon spawning more frequently is a nice change. With more than 300 Pokemon able to spawn in the wild it’s nice that new players have a better chance at filling their Dex with less issues. There are also a lot of Kanto pokemon that can be shiny. This means that if you’re searching for a specific Pokemon from this region you’ll have a great opportunity now.

Finally, Mewtwo has been locked behind EX raids for far too long. It was fun when you’d get treated to an EX raid pass but not everyone was in a place they could get one. EX raid passes required you raided at a sponsored Gym or a Gym in a park and then were able to return there at a specific time and date. This made it so it was difficult for casual players to get one as not all raids at these locations would yield a special raid pass, but hardcore players seemed to get them all the time given they may raid a lot. Now, no matter where you are for a month, if you’re near a gym and have others with you you’ll have a shot at defeating and catching this amazing Pokemon.

The Bad:

With that being said, when Niantic tells us that legendary with shiny forms will only be released for a very limited time you know that hardcore players will go out of their way to get those Pokemon. During the Global Challenge players had the opportunity to unlock Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno raids for 3 hours on one day, and Niantic would give you 5 free raid passes. The issues being is 3 hours was not enough time to do more than an average of 10 raids (with a 1 in 19 to a 1 in 10 chance it was very unlikely you’d get a shiny), it would also almost guarantee you’d have to spend money. Not to mention that the 3 hour timeframe meant you had to plan your day around Pokemon Go not plan Pokemon Go around your day and that’s a selfish move by Niantic.

After Niantic pulled this stunt they then backtracked (without telling anyone they didn’t have to stress over the 3 hour raid crunch) saying these special Pokemon would be in raids for an entire week! This means that people that planned their entire day around those 3 hours could have just waited instead of Niantic dangling these rare and powerful Pokemon in people’s faces and creating a fear of missing out scenario.

Why is this so bad?

Pokemon Go is supposed to be accessible to everyone and these 3 hour events have really been dampening that spirit more than it already is. They then make it a surprise that people really didn’t have to go out of their way to do these events and give us more time to catch them. On one side I’m happy that all trainers will have more time to catch these legendary Pokemon and maybe even their shinies. I’m not happy that they didn’t communicate that there could be another chance so soon. Niantic could have said “don’t worry, if you miss out this time there will be possible opportunities in the near future.” and that would have been fine. In case, they pulled this stunt and it upsets me.

Conclusion:

I hope you’ll all enjoy this Ultra Bonus whether you’re happy about this or a bit disappointed. Ensure you get out there and maybe make a new friend. That’s honestly my favorite part of this game. Leave your comments below and start a civil conversation about this. I want to hear your opinion.

Niantic has given players hope that they will be getting PvP by the end of 2018!?

The post Is Pokemon Go Finally Getting PvP? appeared first on OneTechStop.

PvP!? What is it?

PvP stands for “player versus player”. It’s a term used by gamers to let them battle each other in real time. This is a main feature in why Pokemon has been a huge success for over 20 years. It allowed players to link up with each other either with a cord or wirelessly to battle their creatures in real time. This let players test the teams they’ve been playing with through their journey or battle competitively. This kept players playing the game for sometimes years after their release.

Doesn’t Pokemon Go have PvP?

Technically no, Pokemon Go currently lets you battle other people’s Pokemon controlled by AI in locations called gyms. You battle their Pokemon to take control of that gym for your team. Players can work together in real time to battle gyms or battle raid bosses at gyms as well. Trainers do not have the ability to battle each other in real time currently.

So, it’s Coming Right?

Yes, at some point. A Niantic representative revealed in an interview for the website Gram.pl the representative said the feature was in the works. Niantic has told us this in the past, however for the first time they gave us a time table. The representative said that they want to have this added by end of 2018. This is incredible as Niantic recently added trading a few months ago which was another highly anticipated feature. They also added the ability for trainers to add each other as friends.

What does this mean for the game?

This could mean a resurgence of popularity as well as the advent of a true competitive environment. Many trainers already work hard to have the pokemon with the most DPS (damage per second). However, without a real person to battle against it’s normally the strongest pokemon wins. No need to strategically switch out or use different Pokemon. Giving battles the human element could give way to more people playing and interacting with each other.

This could also mean the advent of a new battle system. Many have complained about the simplicity of tapping really quickly to battle Pokemon. This is compared to the turn based battle system of the original games. Adding a turn based battle system will give the game more strategy.

I personally can’t wait to see what they add to the game. I’m an avid player so I’ll be sure to keep you all updated. Be sure to let me know in the comments what you all think!

Niantic surprised everyone today taking the wraps off new Pokemon coming to Pokemon Go as well as a new feature! Fans have been clamoring for new pokemon for a while now and we got a small taste of that with Pokemon Go’s Halloween event in October, however now they are expanding on the with 50 new creatures! Pokemon such as Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip will be appearing in Pokemon Go as soon as this week according to Niantic along with many other Pokemon originally found in the Hoenn region!

Niantic also dropped word of a new feature “weather”. Weather, which may sound simple will change up game play a lot. If it is raining in your area you can expect to see more water types, or if it’s snowing more steel and ice types. These additions will really change up what Pokemon you will see in your area which will hopefully change up gameplay. We saw the beginnings of this with different Pokemon appearing at night however with weather we will hopefully be able to see changes in real time and know exactly what the changes are.

Once the update is released later this week we will update the post with exactly which Pokemon were released.  Pokemon Go Hub’s Youtube channel is linked so you can see what weather will look like in game. We hope you are as excited as we are and we want to hear about what features you might want in Pokemon Go next!

Niantic Labs had tremendous success with Pokémon Go, which paired their expertise in building location-based augmented reality mobile experiences with a top-flight IP with a ravenous fan base. So, it stands to reason that we should expect a similar fan response to Harry Potter: Wizards Unite , an AR title set to launch in 2018, co-developed by Warner Bros. Interactive and its new sub brand Portkey Games.

Niantic building a Harry Potter game similar to Pokémon Go was rumoured last year, when the company noted that it had acquired the rights to the app. But the rumour was subsequently debunked, oddly enough, with the original article containing the information pulled from the web.

Read about the announcement here.

The mechanics of Ingress would actually translate pretty well to the fictional Harry Potter universe, and seems almost ready-made for a fantasy spell casting coat of paint to replace its science-fiction special forces veneer. Also, like Pokémon Go, it could benefit from the location database built up by Ingress originally (and expanded by the Pokémon title) to incorporate real-world locations into the in-game experience.

They said ,

We’re incredibly excited to announce this next step in the evolution of AR mobile entertainment. With Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, players that have been dreaming of becoming real life Wizards will finally get the chance to experience J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World.

We look forward to seeing you outside on your next adventure. Stay tuned to our social channels for updates as we work to bring this game to life.

Are you excited to try this new AR Game? Let us know.

Yesterday we have reported that Pokémon GO is finally back for Windows 10 Mobile. The app is still not available in the Windows 10 Mobile app store since it would be banned immediately. However, since Windows 10 Mobile is a feature rich and, well let’s call it matured operating system it is possible to sideload apps. This is actually a very important feature for developers but comes in handy if you are trying to install an unofficial app as well.

Almost right after the initial re-release of the app, version 1.0.50, the developers published another update for the app. This time it’s just a small jump from version 1.0.50 to version 1.0.51. As the changelog shows, this updates only task is to fix the Pokémon Trainer Club login feature. If you haave installed the latest update of Pokémon GO yesterday and tried to login with the Google Account you won’t have noticed anything. However everyone who is using a Pokémon Trainer Club account wasn’t able to log back in.

Seems like the team behind Pokémon GO is fully back and works on bringing the best Pokémon experience to Windows 10 Mobile. It’s a pity that Niantic still doesn’t care for Windows 10 Mobile or add least shows some will by working together with these developers. Cheers to these guys, head over to their GitHub page in order to download the Pokémon GO.appxbundle.

Are you still playing Pokémon GO on your Windows 10 Mobile, did you even miss the game while it was not available? eel free to drop us a comment below with your thoughts on this and stay tuned for more Microsoft related news in the future.

Back in summer, Niantic had released their first smartphone game. Take your smartphone and become a real Pokémon trainer, well at least if you are using an Android or iOS powered smartphone. Niantic didn’t really care about Microsoft’s mobile operating system and therefore a small independent group of developers have put their effort into an app which gives you almost the same experience like the real apps.

Shortly after the release of the official app, Pokémon GO was available for Windows 10 Mobile thanks to these developers. While it couldn’t simply be downloaded through the Windows App store, the app package was available on Github and had to be installed manually. This was possible thanks to the API Niantic had developed for Pokémon GO, which allowed third-party developers to access the Pokémon GO data. Unfortunately their appeared various cheating apps on some websites and app stores which resulted in an encrypted API so that nobody could use it anymore. Therefor the development of the third-party Pokémon GO app quickly came to an end.

Today these developers reported that they have finally decrypted Niantic’s API and they will continue their work on the Pokémon GO app for Windows 10 Mobile. Version v1.0.50 (v1.1.0-RC3) can be downloaded from GitHub. In order to install it on your phone there are a few easy steps you’ll have to follow:

How to install Pokémon GO on Windows 10 Mobile

  1. Download Pokémon GO from GitHub
  2. Copy the downloaded PokemonGo-UWP_1.0.50.0_arm.appxbundle to your Windows 10 Mobile device.
  3. Open settings –> Update & security –> for developers tap on developer mode to be able to install apps from outside the Windows app store
  4. Navigate to the PokemonGo-UWP_1.0.50.0_arm.appxbundle on your phone and tap onto it.
  5. Be patient, it will take a few minutes until the app is installed on your phone and you are able to see it in the app list on the left.

App still installed?

Simply open the app on your phone, the update will then be downloaded automatically.

Changelog

  • Fixed API, game is now playable again!
  • A lot of cool stuff.

This update brings a few new features but was mainly released because of the decrypted API. Bugs which have existed in the version before are still in this app and will now be fixed where the team behind the third-party app starts work again.

Are you still playing Pokémon GO, or better said, have you missed the app while it was away. Feel free to drop us a comment below with your thoughts on this story and stay tuned for more Microsoft related news in the future.
