Well, well well. If you are a casual gamer but stuck with your Chromebook because you cannot play games in the office environment? Well, no need to worry, because Google is working to support Steam on Chromebooks.

This is confirmed by Google itself at CES to the people at Android Police. However, there is no further information that how Google will do this or when.

If we consider that this is going to happen, then Google is going to use the underlying Linux compatibility for Steam. This can be done, and hence can be pushed to the older generation laptops. However, there is going to be a serious problem. The Chromebook comes with somewhat low-end processors, and good for nothing graphics.

But the Google Spokesperson confirmed that AMD is placing their Radeon Graphics on the table. When asked about the involvement of Nvidia, the reply was – We cannot disclose much information about that.

It was 2016 when Google first launched the Pixel series. The series was all about flagship devices that were running on stock android. Things changed a bit in 2019 when Google decided to release mid-range Pixel devices such as Pixel 3a and 3a XL at Google I/O 2019. A few weeks back on December 28, popular leakster @OnLeaks and 91Mobiles posted leaked renders of upcoming Pixel 4a, solidifying the rumor of mid-range Pixels again this year.

Google Pixel 4aRecently XDA-Developers came across some code-names from Twitter user @akes29 which he believes to be the codenames of upcoming Pixel devices.  They investigated the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), the latest version of several Google App and also the latest Pixel 4 firmware dumps.  After looking around, they found out three new device code-names and the SoC platform they are based on.

  • Sunfish – This is based on the sm7150 platform which is the code-name for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 SoC. It does not possess a 5G modem. There are two development branches for this board. One for Android 10 and another for Android 11.
  • Redfin – This is based on the sm7250 platform which is the code-name for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765 SoC. This is probably being developed by an ODM called FIH Mobile. It is being developed with Android 10.
  • Bramble – This is based on the sm7250 platform which is the code-name for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765 SoC. There are two development branches for this board. One for Android 10 and another for Android 11. But it is not being developed by any ODM.

With only a month left to Samsung Unpacked 2020 event, real pictures of Galaxy S20+ has surfaced thanks to XDA-developers. In this event on February 11th, Samsung is expected to unveil not only the trio flagship but their new foldable smartphone too. From the pictures, it is same to assume that the device will have really small bezels. Also, a less curved infinity-O display with a tinier punch hole camera on the top compared to last year’s flagship. At the back-side, we can see there will be four-camera with a flash and what seems like a microphone hole. Surprisingly there is no dedicated Bixby button.

Samsung Galaxy Fold saw a shakey beginning with Bendgate 2.0 and a huge price tag. But during the CES 2020, Samsung’s CEO announced that they sold over 400,000 pieces of Galaxy Fold to date. Just after this announcement, Huawei came forward with their stats. They claimed that since the launch of Mate X back on November 15, they sold around 100,000 units per month. Stats like these show that there is actually demand for foldable phones in the market even though the price is really high and the tech is not perfect yet.

Meanwhile, the Chinese media outlet Sina wrote that Huawei has halved their shipping time, thus the new buyers of Mate X on the Friday flash sale would receive their exotic piece of a foldable smartphone by Tuesday rather than waiting for a week.

After the botched release of Galaxy Fold, Samsung had been working on Galaxy Fold 2. A new tip from popular leakster Ishan Agarwal says the device will be having last year’s Snapdragon 855 SoC rather than newly released Snapdragon 865. The device will also be having a 10MP front camera which is probably the same sensor as the Galaxy Note 10.

The reason why Samsung is going with an older processor is probably that they have started working on Galaxy Fold 2 way before Qualcomm had announced the new Snapdragon 865 SoC. Restarting the project with new hardware would result in more changes to the internal design. Something not possible while they might be revealing the device with Galaxy S20 series in the month of February. Below pictures show the Moto Razr-like clamshell form-factor of the upcoming Galaxy Fold 2.
