The WhiteStone Dome glass screen protector has been my favorite screen protector, especially for the Galaxy curved glass series. It is costly but well worth the money in my opinion. It has excellent clarity, great touch sensitivity and for the new Galaxy S10 its basically the only glass screen protector that works with the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. The only issue I have with it, is the installation process it can become nerve racking.

You can see my struggles in the video below.

Well WhiteStone Dome has put out a nice updated installation video for the S10/S10+ devices. Its pretty detailed and they add some better tips for maximizing the sensitivity on the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

If you decide to get the WhiteStone Dome screen protector which you can purchase Here. Please checkout the Instructional Video below as well as the detailed instructions.

1. Before Installation: – Please watch the installation video & read the instructions before performing installation. – Peel off the original film from the S10/S10+ device. 2. During Installation: – Pull out the Pin exactly when the adhesive is between the two arrows and right when it touches the glass in the middle. (As shown in the video; DO NOT let the adhesive slide down past the arrows) 3. Completely Cure in 2 stages: – 1st Primary Curing process (place UV light on the bottom and cure for 15sec, then move to the top and cure for another 15sec) *NEXT: Please press for 1 minute on the fingerprint area, and then proceed with the 2nd curing process. – 2nd curing process (*perform this process two times.) (Place UV light on the bottom and cure for 60 sec, then place the UV light at the top and cute for 60sec.). Repeat this and cure for 1 more minute on both the top and the bottom. 4. After Installation: Remove any existing fingerprints and Re-register yout fingerprint. Register the same finger twice. (Please register once following the device’s instructions and then, ADD ONE MORE FINGERPRINT(Same finger), the way you would naturally touch the screen.

Introduction

Having played with the Libratone ZIPP2 smart speaker for a few weeks now it’s time to provide our review and opinion.

Build & Appearance

Straight out of the box the Libratone ZIPP2 looks and feels like a quality product. Although it’s not small, standing tall at 26.1 cm (10.3 inches) high and 12.2 cm (4.8 inches) wide, it is the size of a Hi-Fi shelf speaker so it won’t blend into a room, but that’s not what you want it to do.

In addition to its size, the Libratone ZIPP2 isn’t that light either, weighing in at 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs), but when you turn it on the reason for its size and weight becomes apparent with it’s amazing full, rich-bodied sound quality. When you add the battery-power required to provide up to 12 hours of wireless ‘active use’, the weight becomes inevitable.

On listening to Libratone ZIPP2 with our eyes closed, we could have easily been listening to a high-end speaker system from the likes of Bang & Olufson. This awe-inspiring audio experience is provided by a mixture of a 1” soft dome neodymium tweeter providing the high end, a 4” neodymium woofer providing an impressive base rumble and two 4” Low frequency radiators filling the space in between. Finally, a 360° reflector ensures that the sound will take your breath away from all angles.

Before the audio signals get as far as the speaker output hardware, they pass through a fully digital Class D amplifier with an adaptive DSP (Digital Sound Processing) sound optimisation and speaker protection system. In simple terms this maximises the quality of the sound signals entering the tweeter, woofer and radiators to output the best possible audio experience.

This mix of high quality audio processing mixed with the audio output hardware (tweeter, woofer and radiators) enables the Libratone ZIPP2 to provide high resolution 96 kHz/24 bit clarity of sound along with an impressive 50 Hz – 20 kHz frequency range ensure you hear everything from the highest tweet to the lowest base tone and everything in between.

Updated 360° FullRoom® sound processing, with onboard Room EQ, along with the 360° reflector, ensures that the amazing range and clarity of sound can be heard from all angles. The 360° FullRoom® sound processing is capable of assessing the acoustics of the room in order to amend the audio output and directional sound accordingly.

If you can find the funds to buy two Libratone ZIPP2 you have the option to link then together for separate left and right stereo audio.

If you have endless funds you can invest in up to 10 Libratone ZIPP2 smart speakers to make the most of the Libratone proprietary SoundSpace Link® technology enabling multi-room streaming between them all across a Wi-Fi network.

Now we’ve covered the insides, its time to talk about what covers the insides. Although the top surface and the bottom 20% of the Libratone ZIPP2 exterior is simple, functional, white matt plastic, the upper 80% is a covered in a fabric knit, available in a number of colour options, which zips on/off, tying in with the ‘ZIPP’ branding. If you’re colour preference is changeable you will be happy to know that so are the fabric covers. In our experience, although the fabric cover is changeable, removing and attaching it is not simple, but we assume it will become easier with practice.

Connectivity

Now we move onto connectivity with both wired and wireless options.

In addition to a standard 3.5 mm mini-jack socket for wired (analogue) audio input the Libratone ZIPP2 supports USB play for a secondary wired (digital) audio input option.

When it comes to wireless options, when at home or in the office, the default option is to connect the Libratone ZIPP2 to a Wi-Fi network using its integrated dual-band (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz), IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi connectivity.

When out and about, wireless audio is still possible using the Libratone ZIPP2 bluetooth 4.1 connectivity.

Whilst connected to a Wi-Fi network, or to a mobile phone via Bluetooth, the Libratone ZIPP2 supports both voice assistant integration and Bluetooth hands free calling, with its far field noise cancelling 6-microphone array enabling clear audio

If you are using the Libratone ZIPP2 with an iOS device you have a third wireless option in the form of apple AirPlay 2 which brings with it Siri support enabling voice control of your apple devices via the Libratone ZIPP2 integrated microphone.

If you are not using the Libratone ZIPP2 with apple products there is still the option to access Amazon Alexa voice assistant instead with its integration with a raft of third part eco-systems.

In addition to Siri and Alexa integration the Libratone ZIPP2 also incorporates Spotify Connect meaning that it will appear as one of your output device options in the Spotify music streaming app.

If isn’t enough, the Libratone ZIPP2 also works as a DLNA client for Android and Windows apps that work as DLNA servers meaning seamless audio playback.

On top of all this, once you have connected the Libratone ZIPP2 to the Libratone android or iOS app to perform initial device setup, you can use the app to set up 5 playlists or radio stations which you can access with a tap on the touch interface on the top of the Libratone ZIPP2 once it is connected to WiFi.

User Interface

Interacting with the Libratone ZIPP2 is easy with the top mounted circular backlit touch interface. When sleeping, tapping the touch pad wakes it from its slumber, presenting the Libratone logo in the centre, circled by 5 symbols relating to the main functions of the interface:

 • SoundSpace® link: on / off SoundSpace® link toggle
 • 5 presets: cycles through the 5 user defined playlists or radio stations
 • Voice assistant mic: on/off microphone toggle
 • Room EQ: runs the Room EQ set-up to ensure the best all round audio quality wherever you are using it.
 • Firmware update: checks for firmware updates if the Libratone ZIPP2 is connected to a Wi-Fi network

In addition to the soft buttons integrated into the touch pad there are a number of gesture-based interactions:

 • swiping you finger around the edge of the pad in a clockwise direction increases the volume, whilst swiping counter-clockwise reduces the volume.
 • Tapping the Libratone logo starts and pauses music playback and answers and ends phone calls (when connected to a mobile phone)
 • Double tapping Libratone logo plays the next track
 • Triple tapping the Libratone logo plays previous track
 • Placing you palm over the touch pad mutes the speaker

Conclusions

With its breath-taking high-end audio quality and easy to use control interface the Libratone ZIPP2 is an impressive Siri / Amazon Alexa enabled smart speaker for the home

When you add the 12-hour battery life, splash-proofness and carry strap, the Libratone ZIPP2 becomes a great accompaniment to any camping trip or picnic.

Even if you need to fill a much bigger space, the Libratone proprietary SoundSpace Link® technology enables you to connect up to 10 of these powerhouse speakers together to get combined audio.

In short, we love the Libratone ZIPP2 which in our experience if much, much more than a smart speaker. The only negative we have been able to find is the price (£279.99 on both the Amazon Store and PC World website), but if you have that sort of money to spend on a speaker the Libratone ZIPP2 is well worth it.

Good audio quality at a low price point

The post Mpow Sport Bluetooth Earbuds Review appeared first on OneTechStop.

]]>

The Mpow Sport Flame came on loan. The opinions of the review are that of the writers and were not influenced in any way.

Mpow Sport

Mpow is a maker of budget smartphone and audio accessories. The Mpow Sport are bluetooth earbuds that, as the name says, have a fitness focus. The Sport have a budget focus that have solid audio for the price. As for the quality of the earbuds themselves… Let’s just say that you get what you paid for.

Sound quality

The quality of the audio is honestly really good for the price of $20. There’s a focus on the lows with pretty heavy bass. Personally, I listen to fairly bass heavy music when I workout so the Mpow are perfect for me in that sense. I wouldn’t say the bass is overpowering though. I was still able to make out the highs, but the mids take the hardest hit. They’re not super muddy sounding, but occasionally mids are a little hard to pick out.

Overall quality

The Mpow Sport’s overall quality is a little on the lower side. The plastic feels a little cheap and so does the cord linking the Mpow’s earphones. They never felt like they would break they just didn’t feel like they were of a high quality. The Mpow Sport boasts an IPX6 rating making them theoretically possible to wear while swimming. Overall I wouldn’t say they were bad quality wise just what you would expect for the price.

Battery life

The Mpow Sport’s battery life boasts 7-9 hours of use. From my use with them that sounds about right. I typically work out for about an hour 5-6 days a week doing a half hour of strength training and a half hour of cardio, and the battery in the Mpow lasted me about the entire week. The Mpow charges using a micro USB port. While USB C would have been nice to have I would give it a pass considering the price point of the earbuds.

Using the Mpow for workouts

Using the Mpow for strength training and yoga was no problem at all. They were in fact really comfortable for that use case, but for cardio they were pretty annoying. The Mpow Sport did not stay in my ears very well, even with trying different sized ear tips, and would slide out every few minutes while running. The wing tips that go over your ears can not be switched out for bigger or smaller wing tips so hopefully they fit over your ears snuggly. They sadly did not for me. You can pause, play, control volume, and skip tracks on the earbuds. Pause and play are easily accessible on the side of the right earbud itself, but accessing volume control and track skipping is a little annoying with the placement being tucked away at the top of the earbud right under the ear hook/wing tip on the right earbud. An in line remote would have been preferable over placement of controls being right on the earbud itself.

Conclusion

If you want bluetooth earbuds on the cheap with decent sound quality (for wireless audio standards) then the Mpow Sport are very good buy. The issue lies in the “sport” part of the Mpow Sport’s name. The Mpow Sport is fine if you do slower paced workouts that don’t involve a ton of movement, like yoga or certain strength training, then you would have no problem with the Mpow Sport. If you’re looking for earbuds to wear when you run the Mpow Sport are not a good decision. The $20 price point is attractive, but you’re a cardio junkie, like myself, then I would suggest looking at wireless earbuds like the Anker Soundbuds Surge if you want to stay in a similar price range.

Though the iPhone XS and XS Max have been here for a couple of weeks now, Apple isn’t quite done with the iPhone releases. Later this month, the company will release the third and final iPhone for 2018: the iPhone XR. While the XS and XS Max are clearly intended to be Apple’s high-end phones, the iPhone XR has a price point that’s closer to what mainstream consumers are used to paying for a flagship phone.

Apple’s iPhone XR accessories were first discovered by @ivanincanada on Twitter, who noticed that they were mentioned in the official iPhone XR press release posted on the company’s Canadian Newsroom site. The listing says, “Apple-designed accessories for iPhone XR including a clear case will be available starting at $55 (CAD).”

A clear case makes sense for the iPhone XR since it comes in several colors (white, black, blue, yellow, coral and red). It would be a similar move to Apple’s polka-dot cases for the iPhone 5C, which complemented the colorful design by letting some of it show through.

Drone

Are you thinking of acquiring a drone or have you just bought one? These usually work very well
when equipped with some of the best accessories. In 2018, there is equipment you will find great for
your drone. They range from the basic equipment you need to have a working UAV to others which give you greater comfort and function.

A drone is also known as UAV or Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

The following are the coolest UAV accessories worth buying in 2018:

Drone Goggles

There is no fun in flying it when you cannot be part of the experience. With the best FPV goggles, you will be able to get a live video feed to draw you right into the action. You will feel like you are in a cockpit flying a plane.

DroneZone

If you are fond of participating in UAV flying challenges, you definitely must have a pair of goggles. Their work is to provide you with real-time feed even as your UAV hovers above the ground.

Drone Propeller Safety Sensors

Your UAV’s propellers can pose a great danger to you and other people around you. The solution for that is often installing propeller guards. However, if the drone didn’t come with the propeller guards, this can make it very heavy.

Instead of propeller guards, it is best if you installed some propeller safety sensors. You and other people close to you will be safe while at the same time ensuring the drone’s weight remains unchanged.

Drone Alt-Terrain Landing Gear

Give your UAV the capability to land and take off from any type of terrain and you will never have to worry where you are flying it. With an all-terrain landing gear, you will have a UAV that can land and take from the surface of water without sinking.

GrabCAD

This can add some weight to the UAV but will work very well for photographers looking for unique shots. It doesn’t matter if you need to land it on uneven or rough rocky ground. The landing gear is made so that it is able to absorb shock and protect the UAV.

The Lighting Kit

The most preferred for drone use are LED lights. These can be nothing but decorations. For individuals who want their drones to have overhead lighting, don’t waste this opportunity. Installing lights on your drone will also prove good when you need to maintain visibility in poor-vision conditions.

Camera

Did you know that without a camera a drone is just another flying object? It is because of this important accessory that the adoption of drones in the professional world continues to grow. Today, there are a number of drones which come with in-built drones.

If your drone does not have a camera, this should be the first accessory you should install on it. With it, you will be able to capture both still photographs and videos. In most cases, a multispectral camera is what you should buy to get the best shots.

Most Important – Lithium-Ion Battery

Drones cannot operate without batteries. In fact, the more the merrier. If you are hoping to use your drone professionally, then it is important that you always carry with you one or two spare batteries. That way, you will avoid having to wait for between 1 and 2 hours to wait for the only battery in your drone to charge. However, with a couple of spare batteries, you don’t have to stop working because the power ran out.

A worthy Battery Bag

If you have spare batteries for your drone, it is important that you get a bag in which you will carry them. A good bag ensures that your batteries remain safe while you are transporting them. The likelihood of there being an explosion is very minimal. Also, bear in mind the portability of the bag. You don’t want to have a huge luggage, especially when you are going out on an expedition in the wild.

Finally, Gimbal

While there are some drones with in-built gimbals, others come without this important component. If yours doesn’t have one, then it is time you bought and installed it. Failure to do so would mean that you get unstable photos full of jitters. However, if your drone has a gimbal, you will be able to get stable still photos and videos.

The purpose of buying these accessories is not just to decorate your drone but to make it work better. If you are into photography, you certainly cannot do it without a good camera. The same applies to those who are already participating in drone racing. There is no way they can do it without a dedicated pair of goggles.

New Generation Apple Watch to sport haptic feedback based keys:- According to Fast Company, Apple will go with Taptic Engine based Solid State buttons on their new smartwatches. The Taptic Engine mimics a button press when no physical button is present. The Solid States buttons were introduced by Apple with iPhone 7.

Apple Watch will now come with Solid State Keys.

Initially, Apple Watch used to come with physical keys. Now with the trend change, Apple is going to use Solid State Keys on Watch itself. However, Apple will use the Digital Crown on the two button configuration. The configuration is present from the initial days of the Watch. But none of them are going to be a ‘physical’ button.

Also, Read: Samsung J3 available on AT&T

In a post, Fast Company says:

Apple will stick with the Watch’s current button configuration, with a button and a digital crown situated on one side of the device, but neither will physically click as before. Rather than reacting to the user’s touch by physically moving back and forth, the new buttons will vibrate slightly under the fingertip, using the haptic effect Apple calls the Taptic Engine. (The digital crown will still physically rotate to navigate through content.)

Apple uses this technology on its MacBook’s trackpad, where physical keys are missing.

The solid-state keys tend to improve the water resistance capability and removing excessive space. Also, this helps in incorporating bigger batteries into the body. Also, Apple will adopt the design by 2018, according to Fast.

The buttons taps may also incorporate heart rate sensor, which will check heart rhythms from your fingers.

Also, By 2019, Apple may go with the no-button design, which will respond on touches and gestures. According to rumors, new Apple Watch will get a bigger display, nearly bezel-less design, longer battery life and much more.

Peace Out!

A tempered glass, curved screen protector for the Samsung Galaxy S9+.

The post Olixar Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy S9+ Review appeared first on OneTechStop.

]]>

Application:

Application of the Olixar screen protector is relatively easy, however there are no instructions in the box. On the back of the screen protector you will find a website to go on to teach you how to apply the screen protector and use everything that comes in the box. It’s nice to have someone walk you through applying the screen protector, however it would have also been nice to have had some physical instructions in the box as well. Applying the screen protector isn’t difficult, however how it is presented to you isn’t the most inviting.

The Screen Protector:

The screen protector does an excellent job of protecting the phone. It covers the curved edges as well as the the entire front of the phone. The screen protector unfortunately doesn’t sit flush on the screen. You can feel a gap when you press on the screen protector to the time it takes to get to the screen. In the setup video they suggest you turn on “touch sensitivity” in the advanced features menu. This helped a little bit however did not fix the delay the air gap made and the phone still wasn’t as responsive as it was without the screen protector. I tried taking the screen protector off and reapplying it however all that did was made it dirty.

Images:

Conclusion:

This screen protector really isn’t fantastic. It works well to protect your screen but impedes the use of the device. If the manufacturer could fix the strange gap the screen protector makes I think it could be a great product. It looks good on the phone and stays on well as well. I unfortunately feel though that because it makes the device less than ideal to use that you should pass this one up.

We want to hear from you all now. What do you think is most important in a screen protector you’re using. Leave us a comment and let us know if you picked up this product.

We would like to thank our friends from Mobilefun.com for supplying us with this accessory for review purposes. If you’d like to purchase the product we will leave a link below.

A short review of an awesome case for the Samsung Galaxy S9+

The post Olixar Sentinel Samsung Galaxy S9+ Case Review appeared first on OneTechStop.

]]>

Review:

The Sentinel has honestly been one of the best cases I’ve used on a phone in a long time. The case covers the back of the phone just up to the point where the metal touches the glass and it does not feel obtrusive. The case itself is made of a grippy, soft rubber with two strips of carbon fiber at the tops and bottom of the device. These strips of carbon fiber don’t do much for the case, but I personally like how it looks. The rubber is soft, and grippy but does not change the shape of the device very much. It was an easy transition and does not make you feel as though you’re losing out on the impeccable design of the Galaxy S9+. I can’t comment on how the case holds up when you drop the device because I don’t have the courage (or the money) to risk breaking the device. If you don’t drop the device directly on the screen it feels like it should give good protection from scratches and scuffs.

My favorite part about The Sentinel is just how detailed all the port cutouts, and button placements are. There is not an opening in the case that looks as though it shouldn’t be there, or is uneven, and the button cut outs line up very nicely with the buttons on the device. There is no obstruction to the USB-C port, speakers, or any of the microphones. It was nice to see how much time and effort this company put into this case. The cut out for the USB-C cut out and the headphone jack cut out are large enough to fit most accessories, however I wish they had been a little bigger for some wiggle room for larger cables or accessories.

After using the case for about a week I found I really like this case. It changed many of my feelings on thin rubbery cases. Although I cannot comment on how durable the case is I will say that it does a good job of keeping your phone in your hand in the first place. I recommend you pick up this case if you have a Galaxy S9+ on the way and you want to stick something quick and basic on the phone that will show off the design but still protect the device.

We would like to thank Mobile Fun for sending us the awesome case to review. Please check out their site at mobilefun.com for more great accessories.

In a recent post I discussed how I outfitted my house with Google Home and Home minis. Shortly after that I decided to pick up my first piece of smart home tech. That was an Insignia Smart Plug with Power Metering, which I picked up from Best Buy for $19.99. I wanted something that would get me started for a reasonable price, just to see what else I could do with my Google Assistant enabled devices besides use them as glorified speakers.

My idea of a “bargain” quickly turned into a nightmare. The instructions were simple enough, take it out of the box, install the app to my phone, and follow the prompts. That 5 minute process took a whopping 3 hours. I am not exaggerating, I started at around 6pm and after going through the steps on the app, calling customer support, uninstalling and reinstalling the app several times, and attempting to download an older apk (at the time the app was at version 3.11.4 now it’s at 3.11.5 on Android) and nothing worked until, a few seconds I left the half hour long customer service call, the plug magically worked. The two errors I will post screenshots of below were errors I saw time and time again and I’m positive you will once you start setting up this device.

The best thing I can say about this product is, after the plug is set up you don’t have to worry about the device randomly disconnecting. I may accidentally turn off the light switch that outlet is connected to and it will quickly reconnect to the wifi network. You can also set the device into one room, unplug it and move it to another room you want to use it in. The device is also very easy to connect to your Google home and it turns the power off when told to very quickly and turns power on moderately quickly. It is more convenient than getting up and flipping a switch and marginally faster.

My advice to you is, before buying any piece of technology look at the reviews, and greatly evaluate just how much a few dollars is worth your patience and time. Looking back now I would have gladly paid an extra $10 for a Wemo plug or something like that, however I wanted to tell you all about the experience I had and how sometimes the extra time and care a manufacturer puts into their device can me worth the few extra dollars you pay.

We want to hear from you though, what was a time you cut corners with tech and wish you had invested the extra money? What advice would you give to others looking into new pieces of technology? Leave your comments below!

Android Wear 2.0 has a lot of great ideas in it, but it’s still a mess if you ask me. That hasn’t stopped Google from continually trying to improve on it, though. Now, through its latest update, Google is making a handful of small changes to Android Wear that make things just a bit better.

First and foremost, Google has added a new complication to Android Wear that lets you toss your most recently used app on your watchface. With this, any time you launch an app on Android Wear, it takes up that spot on your watch face. If you commonly launch an app, this could definitely be a handy tool.

The update, spotted by Android Police, is rolling out in Google Play now and introduces a new “recent app” complication so that you can quickly return to your last used app, as well as a download indicator to show how much time is remaining before downloads are completed.

Further, there are new connection status indications in the quick settings menu, which will show your current connection status for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and cell network.

Another slight change in this update is dynamic text on cards. In short, this allows text on various notifications to adjust its size based on the message. For example, a shorter message of a couple of words will probably have marginally larger text compared to a small paragraph.

All of these changes are live now with the Android Wear v2.6 app, rolling out now on the Google Play Store. Once updated, your watch should reflect these changes.
