Honor View 30 announced for a price tag of sub $500


Honor has finally unveiled their View 30 smartphone in an event today. The smartphone is coming up with the latest Kirin 990 SoC on the board, with a triple camera setup for just under $500 only.

Kirin 990 is the latest SoC from Huawei which comes with a 5G modem, along with AI capabilities to the smartphone. Also note, the SoC also allows dual 4G+5G mode standby mode.

First, let us talk about the camera of the smartphone. There is going, two different models. A normal and other is a Pro version. The Pro variant comes with a 40MP f/1.6 camera with OIS, a 12MP Ultra-Wide camera with AI stabilization and Pixel binding. The third camera is an 8MP 3X telephoto camera. In contrast, the base variant is going to have the same specifications, but a f/1.7 camera sensor and no OIS.

The display of the smartphone is a 6.57-inch LCD FHD+ panel and pairs a 32MP+8MP front-facing camera.

The Honor View 30 comes with a 4,200mAh battery, however, the Pro variant is on the lower side by 100mAh, that is, it comes with 4,100mAh battery. The smartphone supports 40W fast charging, however, for that extra 27W wireless charging sweet spot, you need to get the Pro variant.

Unfortunately, this smartphone is not packing a 3.5-mm headphone jack but does come with a converter. And for the OS you will get Android 10 with Magic UI 3.0.1 on the top.

Honor View 30 – colors, price & availability

The color options of the smartphone are Galaxy Black, Icelanding Frost, Phantom Blue, and Twilight Orange.

And here comes the pricing. The Pro variant comes for ¥3,899 for an 8/128GB variant, whereas the 8/256GB variant comes for ¥4,199. If you want to go with the base variant, then you have to shell out ¥3,299 & ¥3,699 for 6GB or 8GB with a 128GB Storage option. The availability is as of now limited to China and will be available starting December 12.
