Redmi Go from Xiaomi Comes to India


Xiaomi in a press event today launched their first Android Go Device, the Redmi Go. As the name suggests, the device runs the ripped off version of the popular OS, Android. The Android Go devices usually have very lower specs than the budget oriented devices.

The Redmi go is the lowest range smartphone that runs on max 1GB RAM. These devices target the sub-$100 markets. Also, these are designed for the first time smartphone users, who are totally new on the platform. In fact, Xiaomi is taking its next step, to target the sub-100 market as well. But before Xiaomi joined, Samsung already came up with its own Android Go Smartphone: J2 Core.

The specifications are completely basic and nothing much exciting here. It comes with Snapdragon 425 SoC, along with 8GB Storage and 1GB RAM. However, it does comes with a dedicated card slot, and a dual SIM slots as well.

It comes with a 5-inch display, along with 8MP rear and 5MP front camera. The rear camera is capable of capturing FHD videos. Even though this device has basic specs, it is equipped with a 3,000mAh battery. Redmi Go has Android Oreo 8.1 Go Edition onboard.

The Redmi Go is priced at $63 or ₹4,499 and goes on sale at Mi Home and online stores.
