A couple of weeks ago, we reported that Apple Pay is expanding in Europe, with the announcement of it in Germany. The trillion-dollar company has announced that Apple Pay is now available in Belgium as well.
Apple Pay is a way of cashless transactions with the help of NFC chips on your iPhone or Apple Watch. You can also pay using Apple Pay on the web in Safari for iOS or Safari for Mac.
Apple has partnered with three local banks – BNP Paribas, Fintro and Hello Bank. These three banks are part of the same conglomerate, Fortis. Every standard NFC enabled terminal will support Apple Pay in Belgium. Apple has also partnered with individual retailers to promote its service in Belgium.
To get started with Apple Pay, use the Wallet app on your iPhone. Add a card in your wallet and you are good to go. Apple does not charge any premium for using its service. Apple Pay is free and even Apple does not have access to your bank details. Your device stores all the information and protects it with your Face ID or Touch ID biometrics.
