WhatsApp is working on a new update which includes three completely new features. The Facebook owned company is planning on giving their users ability to link their Instagram account with WhatsApp. The other two features include Vacation Mode and Silent Mode.
According to WABetaInfo’s report, ability to link the account with external services was spotted on the WhatsApp Business app. The feature has not been activated for either app yet. The Linked Account settings will be located in the Profile settings, says the report.
This is not a surprise as Facebook is making a lot of efforts to unify the cross-platform features and experiences on all its apps. To link your Instagram account, tap on Instagram mentioned on the screen, followed by entering the credentials for login. After the credentials are validated, the WhatsApp account will be linked to the user’s Instagram account.
There might be two reasons why WhatsApp and Instagram are linking – to recover password using the linked account and sharing the WhatsApp Status on Instagram as Stories, which could be useful to the WhatsApp Business users.
Coming to the other two features, WhatsApp will also feature two new features, Vacation Mode and Silent Mode. These idea is to promote the digital wellbeing and cut down the time spent on the chat app.
Vacation Mode will basically stop the archived chats to pop up in the active chat list whenever a new message arrives. The Vacation Mode will be available in WhatsApp’s Notification Settings on Android, iOS, and Windows Phone platforms. We all were in the situation where we don’t want to be a part of the group but can’t exit ir due to some reason. Voila! Vacation Mode just saved us.
The Silent Mode hides the app badge for any notifications from the muted chats. Although this feature is still available to many via third-party launchers, adding the feature inside the app is a good move by WhatsApp.
This is a good riddance for the users who mute certain chats but any notifications from them start showing the badge on the app icon. WABetaInfo says that this feature is activated by default but there is no toggle setting to turn it off or on.
All the three features will make it to iOS, Android and Windows Phone. Did you like the features? Let us know in the comments below.
