Facebook removing accounts spreading fake news


In the account of tackling fake news that widespread on its platform, Facebook has banned 800 accounts, that spreading fake news. The actual numbers of accounts banned are more than 800 right now. In the list, we have 251 user profiles and 559 pages that are removed from the platform.

In a report, Facebook has also found that popular actors are also creating fake pages. With their popularity and blind followers, they are bringing a large number of people, to these pages. Also, they share the shocking political news.

The people behind the activity also post the same clickbait posts in dozens of Facebook Groups, often hundreds of times in a short period, to drum up traffic for their websites

And they often use their fake accounts to generate fake likes and shares. This artificially inflates engagement for their inauthentic pages and the posts they share, misleading people about their popularity and improving their ranking in news feed.

Many pages like Nation In Distress has been removed completely. This page had around 3 million followers.

Everything here revolves around the money that these actors earn by redirecting people to their websites.

Facebook isn’t blocking anyone who says these content are false. But trying to remove fake craps from the platform at once.
