Microsoft acquires large number of game studios


Microsoft announces that it has acquired several game studios: –  Microsoft is a well-known company known for its more prominent product – Windows. Also, Redmond firm has a good market in the gaming industry as well. The Xbox series of gaming consoles has sold pretty well in past couple of years.  Every year at E3 event, the company announces several games for its Windows Based UWP platform. The Xbox also runs Windows, so you can easily play games purchased on Xbox, on Windows. This time, aside from new games announcement, the company announced that it has acquired several game studios.

Microsoft acquires a whole lot of game studios.

On Sunday, at E3 2018, Phil Spencer announced that the firm has acquired a whole lot of game development studios. The list includes State of Dead creators Undead Labs, Ninja Theory, Playground Games and Compulsion Games. This acquisition will improve the sales of Xbox Game Pass. Playground Games, which developed Forza Games, started in 2010. The game studio is a long-term partner of [the] firm. This partnership and acquisition have made it possible to launch Forza Motorsport 4.

Hellblade: Senua’s Revenge Developer Ninja Theory is also on the list of acquisition. Also, the zombie-based open world game State of Decay series developers Undead Labs has launched latest State of Decay 2 recently. The Compulsion Games is working on a new title which will be launched later this year.

All the acquired game studios will come under Microsoft Studios, and also under Crystal Dynamics (developer of Tomb Raider), The Initiative.

Microsoft holds Mahjong, developer of Minecraft Game.
