OnePlus 6 teaser reveals an alert slider and design changes

Another day, another massive OnePlus 6 teaser. The Chinese firm has posted a new image of its forthcoming flagship on Twitter as the countdown to launch continues.

The new image shows the OnePlus 6 beneath the existing OnePlus 5T, showcasing what the company calls a ‘refined’ design.

The image is accompanied by the caption: “More immersion in a refined form factor. Are you ready for the #OnePlus6?”

The teaser image suggests that the OnePlus 6 could be a slimmer device. Also, from the image, we can make out that OnePlus will replace the alert slider switch with a SIM tray on the left-hand side of the phone. Meaning the slider could find a new place for itself on the right edge or it might be ditched entirely.

Chances of removing the alert slider are slim at best as it has been a distinctive feature of OnePlus smartphones since OnePlus 2. However, repositioning the alert slider falls in-line with previous indications from the company, that the alert slider may get the ability to control focus in the camera app.

Other details reveal that the back panel won’t curve around the edges as seen on the OnePlus 5T. Instead, the OnePlus 6 will have a visible metal chassis that will hold down the display on the front and a panel on the back. The back panel is also rumored to come in different textures.

We already know the phone will arrive with the Snapdragon 845 processor, with the top model offering 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It will also offer an iPhone X-style notch, which users will be able to hide from view using the software to black out the exposed areas of the display.
