Currently, India is witnessing a virtual war between music streaming platforms. While regional players like Saavn, Ganna provide excellent mixtures of regional and international contents, Amazon, Google, and Apple has already made their way into the market. Spotify does not want to fall behind and has hired ex-Google Business Manager Akshat Harbola to lead their entry into Indian streaming platforms. Last week, Spotify made their debuts in Israel, Romania, South Africa and Vietnam. Now, CEO Daniel Ek confirmed in a press event that they will also be debuting in India:
We are working on launching in some of the biggest markets in the world, including India, Russia, and Africa which has a very rich musical culture.
