Xiaomi has a stronghold in south Asian countries, mostly in China and India. The value for price device with good quality has sure eaten up a lot of markets. Xiaomi has always stayed away from the United States, but that did not stop people from buying their phones. The Wall Street Journal reports that Xiaomi’s Chairman Lei Jun is planning to make an entry into the U.S. market soon.

We’ve always been considering entering the US. market. We plan to start entering the market by end 2018, or by early 2019.

It is expected that Xiaomi will have to fight a lot to arrive into the country considering the government officials are a bit worried about Chinese products.  However products from ZTE, another Chinese company has seen success in the country, but Huawei got bullied by the U.S. government which prevented them from launching Mate 10 Pro on AT&T and Verizon.
