We already know that Whatsapp Business has been released to make it easier for small businesses. Now a new report suggests that Whatsapp Pay might reach India in February, The service is already in beta with one of the Facebook’s partner banks. The service will use a peer-to-peer transaction system known as Unified Payments Interface (UPI). It’s a payment system created by government for securer and faster fund transfer without the need for third-party. For example – Google has already brought Tez to India
which uses UPI. For a country which has more than 200 million WhatsApp users, It’s quite important for WhatsApp to have a foothold in the mobile payment system. With WhatsApp Business and UPI, WhatsApp can make it useful for Indian customers to shop and do more transaction. Similiar kind of feature can be observed in Hike, a messaging app that was developed in India.
