OnePlus had earlier announced that just like the OnePlus 5T, the OnePlus 5 will also get the snappy Face Unlock system which basically uses the front camera.
Well, that is now finally available with a OxygenOS Open (Beta) before rolling it out to everyone with an official OTA update. OxygenOS Beta 3 is now rolling out to the OnePlus 5, and along with a new security patch and a couple of general optimizations and off course yeah, the Face Unlock.
As you can already guess, the face unlock on OnePlus 5 works the same way as that of its updated version, the 5T. It’s not as secure as the good old fingerprint sensor, but there’s no denying its sheer convenience.
In addition to that, the Open Beta 3 for the OnePlus 5 also adds the December 2017 security patch, app shortcuts for Recorder, optimizations for vibrations, a fix for connection issues when using 5G Wi-Fi, and other general fixes/improvements.
That said, what do you think about the face unlock system? Is it better than FaceID on the Apple iPhone X? Let us know in the comments section below.
