Facebook Messenger Finally Restored After Global Outage on Both Mobile and Desktop Apps

Facebook was unfortunately suffering from a global outage for nearly two hours earlier today. But it was restored around 19:00 (Indian Standard Time). According to the Facebook for Developers forum, the outage was observed from 16:30 (IST) globally. Even I experienced the issue and was unable to send texts to people.

Facebook users tweeted about the outage like always. People on desktop, when tried sending messages, were unsuccessful because Messenger was “currently unavailable”. The problem was observed on both Mobile and Web.

Facebook twitteraties made hashtags like #FacebookDown and #FacebookMessengerDown trending.

Facebook’s other counterpart WhatsApp was also down earlier this year and had returned after an hour. The Facebook team says that they are “constantly investigating” upon the issue.
