OnePlus 5T officially launched, Here’s a New View

OnePlus sent out invites in advance for their OnePlus 5T event last week. The event was held in Brooklyn, and live streamed at OnePlus Store. The event had lot of hype built around it,

Here’s what stood out in the event:

  • Improved Oxygen OS:
    OnePlus is known for its exclusive Oxygen OS, which is a custom Andriod ROM built by them. OnePlus 5T runs on a new Oxygen OS which features Parallel Apps and OnePlus Switch. The new OS is based on four key points, User Interaction, No Bloatware, Speedy Performance and Power Efficiency.

  • Better Camera:
    OnePlus 5T comes with dual 16MP + 20MP camera. The camera is built with Intelligent Pixel Technology, letting you take better pictures in low light conditions. It works by converging 4 pixels in the second lens to act as one, thus accepting more light. The camera also works on a custom improved algorithm to adjust the difference in focus automatically. As for the video, Video stabilization has been improved, so no more shaky videos. It has EIS(Electronic Image Stabilisation) 4K, letting you record high definition videos without shakes.

  • Beta Program:
    Andriod Oreo is coming to OnePlus 5 and 5T, and beta programs will start late this year. OnePlus 5 with get an update in early 2018 through OTA, while OnePlus 5T will get a late December Open Beta.
  • Display:
    It features a large 18:9 Optic AMOLED Display, which is probably why they ran the ‘A New View’ tagline.

  • Face Unlock:
    Unlocks your device by using facial recognition. Tapping smiley face in the middle of navigation bar lets you use it.
  • Gaming DND:
    OnePlus 5T offers DND even for gaming mode, where you can turn off notification for selected games.
  • Hardware:
    OnePlus 5T packs the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 for better multitasking. It has 6/8 GB LPDDR memory.
  • Pricing: $499 for 64GB variant and $559 for 128GB variant. Sales start 21st November this year. They’ve cut off the middlemen to decrease the overall price of the device. They’ll the selling the device directly via their online store OnePlus.net.
