iOS 11.2 update by Apple increases wireless charging speed.

Many consider wireless charging a godsend and after years of asking for it, Apple finally introduced the feature on its iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the iPhone X at its September event. While it has been capable of wireless charging up until this point, it has been doing so at 5 watts. Now, the 11.2 update of iOS has increased the wattage to 7.5, taking things to a new level when it comes to wireless charging speeds.

As you can assume, with this new feature enabled, you’ll be able to charge your supported devices even faster. Sadly, not all wireless chargers are created equally and you will need to purchase or already have a unit that can support 7.5-watt charging. Apple has a couple of these available from its website, like the Belkin Boost Up and the Mophie Wireless Charging Base. Both of these units are priced at $59.95.

Currently, the iOS 11.2 update is available to developers and those enrolled in the beta program. If you are interested in enrolling in the beta program, you can do so by signing up on the Apple website.
