Instagram Stories launches cross-posting to Facebook Stories
If you’re a fan of Instagram or Facebook Stories – posts of photos and videos which automatically disappear after 24 hours – you’ll now be able to send to both platforms with a single post.
In a feature currently rolling out to Instagram users, there’s a new Share option when posting a story which says “Your Facebook Story”. Check that, and it will be automatically cross-posted to Facebook Stories.
Unfortunately, while you can now post your Instagram Stories to Facebook, you can’t do it the other way around, although this feature might be enabled somewhere down the line. The company could also take this whole thing a step further and allow you to cross-post Stories to all of its services, which in addition to Facebook and Instagram also includes WhatsApp and Messenger.
“You now have the option to share your Instagram Stories to your Facebook Stories. We’re always working to make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you” a Facebook spokesperson told TechCrunch. Facebook also told us that while you can’t do the reverse, posting Facebook Stories to Instagram Stories, it hasn’t ruled that out building that in the future.
