Marimekko to produce skins for Surface accessories in partnership with Microsoft


Microsoft has partnered with Marimekko to produce skins and sleeves for Surface and its range of accessories. For those who don’t know, Marimekko is a Finnish design house known for its original colors and prints. For Surface range, they are going to use their expertise to craft and innovate and bring in a new leash of life to the design of skins.

Marimekko and Microsoft have unveiled accessories for Microsoft’s Surface devices. The collection kicks off in May, with four Marimekko-patterned skins. The collection will expand in the fall and include two Marimekko-patterned sleeves. The accessories offer Surface users an opportunity to customize the look of their devices and add a pop of Marimekko’s joyful design language into their everyday lives. Marimekko will release its collection later this month. with four Marimekko-patterned skins. Later this fall, two two Marimekko-patterned sleeves will be added to the collection. The collection includes Unikko, Kaivo, Räsymatto and Siirtolapuutarha prints. The featured image has Unikko design printed over Surface cover.

The Marimekko for Microsoft Surface accessories feature some of the design house’s most iconic prints and modern classics: the skins will be available in Unikko and Kaivo (well), designed by Maija Isola in 1964, and Räsymatto and Siirtolapuutarha (city garden) prints, designed by Maija Louekari in 2009, and the sleeves will be seen in the Unikko (poppy) and Räsymatto (rag rug) prints.

The collection will be sold through Microsoft store when released. The sale will be worldwide as stated in above quote. The release date is yet not known, but it is expected to arrive later this month.
