Rumor has it that Microsoft is planning to separate Edge browser updates from Windows OS updates. Now users will receive updates directly from Microsoft Store, not from the usual OS updates.
The news comes from Neowin.net, which claims that in order to keep up with Google Chrome, Microsoft has decided to make its browser independent in terms of updates. This means more frequent updates, more stable features, and more reliable browser. Instead of pushing major browser updates one or twice in a year, it might be better for them to push smaller updates and improvement throughout the year.
You’ll be able to update Edge browser through Windows Store with the same procedure as for other apps. Since Edge browser is not in the Windows Store right now, this change will take place in Redstone 3 build which is expected to arrive in Q3 this year.
