[Video] Android 7.1 Nougat shown off running on a Nokia Lumia 520 / Lumia 525
Developed Symbian, released first devices with Windows Phone, bought by Microsoft, releasing devices with Windows Phone 8.1, getting sold again, working on Android devices. that’s pretty much what Nokia went through the last few years even it is held a bit short. Now the world is waiting for Nokias first Android powered devices, while Microsoft is going its own way again. However, there is a way how you can get a first glance on what it is like to have a Nokia powered Android phone already.
Before you get too excited, this method is only working on a few limited devices. The thing is that only devices powered by a Snapdragon S4 processor are capable of running Android. While this isn’t because of the power this processor brings, it is because of an exploit this processor has and can be used for flashing Android on such devices. According to this information, it should be possible to run Android on the following devices:
HTC Windows Phone 8S, HTC Windows Phone 8X, Nokia Lumia 520, Nokia Lumia 620, Nokia Lumia 720, Nokia Lumia 525, Nokia Lumia 820, Nokia Lumia 920, Nokia Lumia 925, Nokia Lumia 1020, Nokia Lumia 928, Nokia Lumia 822, Nokia Lumia 810
However, this is just a list of devices which are powered by the Snapdragon S4 process, though there are four different versions of the Snapdragon S4 processor, Snapdragon S4 Play, Plus, Pro, Prime; And this is just one requirement devices need to fulfill to run Android.
Now, you might know the XDA Developer Forum which is the home for developers on Android, Windows Mobile and iOS. Numerous hacks have been published there in the past, for example how you can access the Registry on your Windows Phone 8.1 or Windows 10 Mobile device in order to customize your phones operating system.
Now there has been published a video, showing off Android 7.1 running on a Nokia Lumia 520 and a Nokia Lumia 525. Both devices are powered with a Snapdragon S4 processor and are qualified for this procedure. Unfortunately the publisher has not included a step by step guide how you can do that, though this isn’t exactly new and you can do some searches on the internet if you want to know how you can bring Android on your Windows Phone.
On the Nokia Lumia 520, Android isn’t running very well since it does only have 512 MB of RAM. How that’s a different story on the Lumia 525 which has been released after the Lumia 520 and has been equipped with 1GB of RAM by Microsoft.
