For those who aren’t familiar, project Astoria is a Microsoft initiative looking to fill it’s app store with a plethora of Android applications. It was only 3 weeks ago that Microsoft opened up the option to devs, and today it seems they are testing the process, meaning app’s should start readily filling the app store shortly. Microsoft said that they have multiple teams working on the initiative, stating:
“We have had quite a few teams ready for the store. We are working with a few right now and will be working with more soon. Then we will open it to everyone in the Developer Preview.”
If everything goes smoothly, the transition from Android to Windows phone should be a lot more simple for a lot of users, allowing them to continue to use their favorite apps on another OS.
Are you excited for the initiative? Will you be making the switch?
