According to Terry Myerson new premium Lumia devices are coming ‘soon’

The launch of Windows 10 is ahead and along with that there came up a lot of rumors saying that Microsoft might discard the mobile section some time later next year and there where also some rumors about the Lumia brand which might be discontinued in the future by Microsoft. Well we can not tell you what happens in a few years but at least Terry Myerson has now confirmed that new Lumia devices are currently in production and that they will be announced in the near future.
Microsoft is currently holding the first Worldwide Partner Conference Keynote address in Orlando and apart from some other very important news, the company’s head of the Windows section has made this important statement:

“Last week we announced a focusing on our Lumia lineup, but let me be clear: soon you will see premium new Lumias designed for Windows 10.”

Microsoft is currently in a struggling transformation, recently the company has announced that they will lay off 7,800 of its workers in the next 12 months, furthermore there where lately headlines in the news for example about the popular Photosynth service. This was an app which allowed users to take panorama photos, but not only pictures in a row it was also possible to take photos from all around you and stitch that to one big picture. Apart from the Photosynth Service which will not be supported anymore in the near future, we know now that some of the MSN Apps will be discontinued as well. So it was not surprising that rumors raised stating that Microsoft might discontinue their mobile operating system as well as the Lumia brand.

Of course that is no warranty for us that Microsoft will continue both the Lumia Brand as well as Windows Mobile also in the future which is still a bit further away but I think this is definitely and important statement from Terry Myerson and I guess that there are no plans from Microsoft to ditch either one of the two long term projects.
