The Mobile World Congress has taken place about 2 months ago and beside some huge tech companies, also Microsoft has joined this annual event in Barcelona. As a little reminder, this was the event when Microsoft has announced its super affordable Lumia 640 which is now available in four versions 640 LTE | Dual SIM / 640 XL LTE | Dual SIM.
All four versions are available in four different colors, black, white, cyan and orange. The Lumia 640 is not only one of the cheapest devices Microsoft is currently offering but it is also the second Windows Phone with a Microsoft branding and it is a Windows 10 ready device which will be one of the first devices to receive the Windows 10 update.

The most interesting point about the Microsoft Lumia 640 is probably the price which is paired with some stunning hardware specifications. The Lumia 640 began a global rollout in April. Pricing will vary by market and operator, but is estimated to be around EUR 139 for the 3G model and EUR 159 for the LTE model, before taxes and subsidies. The Lumia 640 XL is available in single SIM and Smart Dual SIM variants, with a global rollout starting this March. It is priced at EUR 189 for the 3G models and EUR 219 for the LTE model, before taxes and subsidies.
Both devices are shipped with Windows Phone 8.1 and the Lumia Denim Update. Beside that they will also come with GDR 2 (General Distributive Release) aka Update 2 preinstalled. The GDR 2 Update brings some cool new features for Windows Phone, whereas the overhauled settings app is probably the most obvious change.
Apart from that you are getting a 5″ or 5,7″ screen with the device which has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. To have enough power for a whole day the Lumia 640 is powered by a 2500 mAh battery while the Lumia 640 XL does even have a 3000 mAh battery. These devices will also be perfect for users who love to play some games on their Windows Phones since they are shipped with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB of RAM.

Below you can have a look at a detailed list of specs for both, the Lumia 640 and the Lumia 640 XL:

So for that price this is a pretty impressive peace of Hardware. Thanks to Lumia Conversations we got the chance to receive a Microsoft Lumia 640 Trial Device for two weeks (Lumia 640 XL will follow) and test it. Jimmy Lee, part of the OneTechStop team, was visiting the Walt Disney Resort a few days ago and has made a hands on video with the Lumia 640.
He has got the Microsoft Lumia 640 LTE to test it and is talking about some hardware specs of the device, the 8MP camera with a single LED flash, the front camera, the removable back and some other cool things, so have a look at the video below.

Feel free to let me know your opinion about the Microsoft Lumia 640. Do you think Microsoft can finally conquer some market share for Windows Phone with such an aggressive price strategy? Stay tuned for more videos about the Lumia 640 and for upcoming hands on videos with the Lumia 640 XL.
