As you may know, Microsoft has released a new Build Version of its Windows 10 operating system for Desktops. Build 10041 brings a lot of new cool features like the transparent Start Menu, it is possible to pin settings to the Start Menu, new symbols have been added once again including the awkward recycle bin icon and a lot of work under the hood of Windows 10 has been done. This means a long list of bug fixes has been taken care of, but there is also a pretty long list of known issues which are coming with this newly release Build Version.

One of these problems is about the Mail Calendar and People Apps for Windows 10. Once you go to ‘All Apps’ in the Start Menu, you will not find them or at least you can not open them. Well then head to the store an reinstall them, simple as that. Unfortunately this will not work either, however Microsoft has released, with the list of known issues, also a workaround for this problem. Follow the four simple steps below and you will be able to use these three apps again.

  1. Click on Start and search for ‘Windows PowerShell’, once found right click and open as administrator.
  2. Copy and paste the following command: Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online

  3. Hit ‘Enter’ to start.
  4. Last but not least, re-install Mail, Calendar and People Apps from the ‘old’ Windows Store App.

This is just one Known Issue of the yesterday released Build, to get the full list, follow this link. If you discover any new bugs, drop me a comment below so that I can try to help you out and that other users are aware of the problem.
