In the past few days we have seen various leaks about the upcoming Consumer Preview of Windows 10 which will probably come with Build version 9888 and is expected to arrive in late January 2015, furthermore it seems that Microsoft will present us not only Windows 10 Consumer Preview but also an early version of the Windows Phone 10 Preview at this time. Unfortunately it is not clear yet if participants of the Windows Phone Developer Preview program will be able to download the Preview at this date.

While Cortana has been successfully introduced with Windows Phone 8.1 for the smartphone to compete with Apples Siri and Googles Google Now, it seems that Microsoft is eagerly working on bringing the voice assistant also to the desktop OS Windows 10. We have heard some rumors in the past already that Cortana will find it’s way to Windows 10 and there have been found some hints in the current Technical Preview of Windows 10 that it will happen tough we didn’t know a date until now. As today a first screenshot leaked where we can see Cortana pinned to the task bar what makes us believe that Cortana will be integrated in the Consumer Preview which will be released in late January. This also means that while Microsoft is still working on integrating this feature in the Windows 10 OS there are already some small groups which are allowed to test this feature.

According to Neowin it is confirmed that this is a valid screenshot of Cortana integrated in Windows 10. It seems that the leaker who has published the screenshot has turned on high-contrast theme and that’s why the task bar looks a bit different from what we are used to. On this screenshot we can see Cortana pinned to the task bar what means that Cortana will as supposed replace the search button just like in Windows Phone.

So are you looking forward to Cortana for Windows Phone or do you think you will not make use of Cortana on a Desktop OS, let me know below in comments.
