Microsoft Office Apps for iOS make up 3 of the top 5 free iOS Apps

On November 6th Microsoft has finally brought a free version of its Office Apps to the iOS App Store. When I say Office I mean the three major Office applications Word, Power Point and Excel. OneNote is also available for free in the app store but this has been changed a while ago. From now on iOS users will not need an Office 365 subscription to use it on their smartphone or tablet. All the office apps are compatible to save and open files from the cloud, what means Dropbox and OneDrive for example.

Well since two days these apps are remaining for free in the app store and now they are making up 3 of the Top 5 free apps in the iOS App Store. I think this says a lot, on the one hand that Microsoft Office is still in use by most people and Open Source as well as Apple competitors will have a hard time to get some market share there, but this also means that Microsoft has done its job right and has made a solid app which can handle all basic jobs.

What do you think of this move from Microsoft, brining all three major Office Apps to iOS for free, good or bad? Well according to my opinion it could have negative impact on Windows Phone because a free Office Suite was one of the big advantages of Windows Phone but we will see what the future brings, let me know your opinion in comments.
