Mix Radio for Windows Phone delivers you even more personalized music in the future
Mix Radio, or also called Nokia Mix Radio earlier, is a Music Streaming service especially for mobile devices. There is no web service like for Xbox Music or Spotify all you have at Mix Radio is the Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 app. It allows users to get a unique stream of music customized to their taste of music. By liking or disliking songs the app learns what kind of music you prefer and which you do not really like to listen to. Probably the best part is that you can use the whole service for free if you want to, without annoying ads. There are restrictions like that you can just skip 3 songs per day or things like that bit I think that is okay for a free service. However there is of course also a premium model for the service where you have even more features to experience.
Today at the MixRadio Music Connects 2014 keynote Mix Radio has presented a totally new recommendation engine to get even more personalized recommendations for all Play Me users. According to Jyrki Rosenberg, head of Mix Radio, the new engine curates a greater breadth of music in a more highly personalized way than ever before, below you can have a look at what Jyrki Rosenberg has said exactly today at the Mix Radio keynote:
“The challenge our development team have faced is curating overwhelming large catalogue of music, 34 million tracks, for a single listener in a way which is completely relevant and personal. Our promise to listeners is to provide their own personal radio station at the touch of a single button, and the new engine lets us truly deliver on that promise”.
The company claims, that the service now takes its data from various users all over the world which makes this service unique and brings a unique experience to its users. So that users will be served with the well known and loved tracks but then there will be mixed in some similar artists so that the user gets to know new artists from the genres he is already listening to. The engine basically looks at other users who are listening to, for example Linkin Park, and then looks for similar bands this users are also listening to. When you are listening to Linkin Park you will get recommendations with bands from these users because you might also like them. This new engine will interact with the Play Me feature which is already included in the Mix Radio app and delivers you already your artists mixed up with some new artists you might like.
Mix Radio began with the development of this engine in 2010 already, a few weeks ago they started to move users to this new engine, now that this shift has been finished they have officially announced it today. What do you think of this new engine, do you like it? Let me know below in comments.
