Windows 9 will be free for current Windows 8(.1) User

According to a rumor, the president of Microsoft Indonesia has, accidentally or not, somehow confirmed that people who have currently installed Windows 8 will get a free Update to Windows 9.

The statement from Diantoro, the president from Microsoft Indonesia, appeared on the Indonesian website Detik, and according to this statement the upgrade will be free, here you you can read the translated statement from Diantoro:

“when the OS (Windows 9) was launched later, users who have been using Windows 8 just need to do the update via his device. It will be installed automatically.

This sounds good tough there has been no mention about earlier Windows versions like Windows 7, Vista and XP.
ZDNet has reported a few weeks back that the Update will probably be a free upgrade, at this time it was nothing but a rumor but now that has been ‘confirmed’ by Microsoft so it is likely to be real. ZDNet also reported that the Update will be free for current Windows 7 users, Diantoro has not said anything about that but it would definitely be a good move from Microsoft to make it free also for Windows 7 users because the new version of Windows, whatever it will be called, will spread a lot faster when it is free.

So what to you think, will it be free? Today is the big Microsoft Event in San Francisco but they probably will not say anything about the pricing yet, it is more likely that they will announce the price shortly before the release of the final version. Have you been convinced by the upcoming features to download the Technical Preview which will be available to day or are you going to wait for a more stable version, let me know below in comments.
