Is the Lumia 830 better or on par with the Lumia 930? Let’s find out.
So Microsoft announced the Lumia 830 aka “Affordable Flagship” and sure it is, just check out what this device is packing:
A 5inch display, Quad Core processor, 10MP PureView camera, MicroSD slot, 2200mAh battery, what more could you ask for from a device that costs well below the average price of either the S5 or the iPhone 5S.
There is already talk of this device even being better than the 930, it is thinner (8.5mm) and lighter (150gms) than the 930, it has an IPS LCD display hence you can use glance again, something that is not available on the 930 due to its AMOLED screen which doesn’t support the feature. The 830 has expandable microSD slot with support up to 128GB while the 930 doesn’t have one and is constraint to just 32GB internal storage. Finally, the 830 is way cheaper than the 930!
Looks like the 830 kills the 930? Not so fast.
Let’s take a closer look at both devices…
The 930 has a 20MP Pureview camera, with dual LED flash, while the 830 is a 10MP PureView camera with a single LED flash. Both with OIS. But 930 wins here obviously.
The 930 has a HD display with 1080p resolution at 441ppi against the 830 which has a 720p resolution screen with 294ppi pixel density.
The 930 has a QuadCore SnapDragon 800 2.2Ghz processor with 2GB RAM and an Adreno 330 graphics chip while the 830 possesses the power of a QuadCore SnapDragon 400 1.2GHz processor and an Adreno 305 graphics chip
The Lumia 930 supports the latest WiFi ac standard for faster transfer rates along with the other abgn standards, while the 830 wasn’t upgraded and is still in the usual a/b/g/n range.
830 has a .9MP front facing camera, the 930 has a 1.2MP front facing camera. Both record at 720p.
Judging from the Specs comparison, if you are keen on the glance feature, don’t mind less power and would love to control your storage capacity, then the 830 is your choice, vice versa? then the 930 is your way to go.
