Lumia 920 provides images for Live T8 concert

One presents Live @ T8

I was approached by Nokia Connects a few weeks ago to see if I was interested in participating in a special project.  Upon agreeing, I received the instructions to submit images taken with a Lumia 920 inspired by a list of remarkable protest songs.  Images captured by ‘photojournalists, bloggers, amateur photographers and celebrities’ will provide the visual imagery to accompany a protest song.  I grew up listening to most of the music on the list and also got introduced to many new ones.

One campaign is having a 3 day concert (June 11-13) in London at the Tate Modern Museum where artists will perform these protest songs accompanied by images that will be projected onto the façade of the museum.  I strongly believe that the songs performed during the concert will inspire a new generation to take action to eradicate extreme poverty.  I still remember watching Live 8 London/Philadelphia concert back in Holland on TV and going to the recent Live 8 Philadelphia concert a few years back.  As many of you might already know, I am very passionate about music and mobile gadgets and I feel honored to be asked to contribute to this project.

I have shared a lot of images for a handful of songs (What’s going on, Streets of Philadelphia, For what it’s worth, War, Born in the USA, Sun City, Up on the mountain (MLK song)) using my wife’s red Lumia 920.

agit8

Agit8Nokia is helping to spread word of the campaign by capturing images from around the world. People are being encouraged to share images, stories and experiences that support the theme of ‘Progress through protest.’

The agit8 campaign features new video recordings of classic protest songs and impromptu live performances. A new film will also be projected on the iconic façade of the Tate Modern.

Artists taking part in agit8, include Ed Sheeran, Mumford and Sons, Elvis Costello, Angelique Kidjo, Rokia Traore, Tom Morello and Macklemore.

Exclusive videos of their performances, plus beautiful images that reflect the power of the protest song, are available at one.org/protestsongs.’

You can join the movement by submitting your pictures inspired by the protest songs via twitter using hashtag #nokiaxONECampaign or upload to Nokia’s official Facebook page.

As an added bonus, I have added a link to a special performance by one of the agit8 artist captured using my wife’s Lumia 920.

I hope you will be inspired by the songs and together we can contribute to eradicate extreme world poverty!
