Asus Windows 8 NYC Event

Arthur and I were invited to Asus Windows 8 Press preview event dubbed 'In Search of Incredible'.   Since the event was in NYC, I decided not to drive and took the bus into city and walked to Espace from Penn Station. Upon arrival, members of the press were greeted at meeting area and escorted to hall where the main event took place.  Jonny Shih, Asus' CEO, took the stage after a visual stunning introduction.

As many of you already know, Windows 8 will be available starting Friday October 26. The focus of this event was showing the new Windows 8 lineup and Asus has something for everyone.

Here's a highlight of the Asus Windows 8 line up:

Vivobook is an affordable touch powered notebook that comes with a cool price tag and it starts as low as $499.  There are two versions S200 and S400, and both come with 32 GB web storage for three years.  The Vivobook will be available in a selection of vibrant colors.

VivoTab RT "With its innovative tablet and mobile dock design, VivoTab RT delivers an excellent combination of performance and portability, both for work and play." VivoTab RT runs on Windows 8 RT and will be available in wifi, 4G/LTE (AT&T) or 3G (EU) and the user could choose between 32 or 64 GB of storage.  The wifi model starts at $599 and doesn't come with the dock.

ET 2300 All in one PC can convert from the traditional upright display to a table top by laying it flat.  It has two Thunderbolt ports, HDMI port for game console or BluRay player and Wireless Display (WiDi).  The ET 2300 'is the first All-in-One PC with a built-in array speaker and subwoofer, an external subwoofer, and ASUS SonicMaster technology — these enable the ET2300 to deliver incredible acoustic fidelity'.

Taichi was the highlight of the event.  Taichi is a dual display Ultrabook/Tablet hybrid, it 'combines the best features of multi touch tablet and ultrabook. It switches seamlessly between the two by simply lifting of a finger'. It comes in 3 flavors, all 11.6" Full HD screen, 4 GB RAM, 126/256 SSD, Intel Core i5 or i7 processor.  Pricing for the Asus Taichi starts at $1299.
