How to Fix the “Unable to Log on” Issue on the N9

For those of you lucky enough to have an N9 there a few issues that you might run into during set up. The one issue I had is the “Unable to Log on” error message when I tried to log into Twitter and Facebook.  After much trial and error here is the one solution that worked for me.

This fix came from ceroberts75  on the Nokia Support Discussions board, so thanks and cheers to him!

First you will need to turn developer mode on:

Settings, Security, Developer mode, turn it on and accept any downloads it requires.

Phone will reset itself.

Go to the apps screen scroll all the way down to the bottom, you will now see a “Terminal” button click on it.

Type in these lines of command using the return key after every line

gconftool –recursive-unset /system/http_proxy
gconftool –recursive-unset /system/proxy
gconftool –recursive-unset /system/osso

(FYI There is space after gconftool and after unset)

This will solve your Unable to Log on Issue.  I hope this helps you out, and stops you from going having to searching all over for a solution like I did.
