Microsoft is slowly rolling out focused inbox and more to non-insider outlook user on Windows 10 PC

Focused Inbox is one of the feature Microsoft brought from Acompli after buying it back in december 2014. What it does is that it basically shows important emails on top of other emails much like how Facebook’s newsfeed works. It has been available to iOS and Android users for some time now. While we have seen some people getting this feature on the Windows 10 outlook client irrespective of insider or non-insider last month, but now more people are getting it.

I am not an insider anymore and using the general Windows 10 ( build 14393.693 ). Once I updated the app today , I was greeted with a pop up saying that they are rolling out new update which brings Focused Inbox, Faster Search and more. To be honest, I don’t like focused inbox. It makes more clutter than it should. If you feel the same and want to get rid of it ( considering you have or will get this feature ) then you can follow these steps and disable it for good –

  • Open Mail App
  • Click on the Settings icon
  • Goto Reading section
  • Scroll down
  • Turn it off

If you want then you can turn it on from there only. Heres a video showing how to do it –
