Finally a Nokia Phone Back at Verizon Nokia Oyj Coming Soon

It has been a long time since Nokia had phone at Verizon (the Nokia Twist) and that wasn’t even really a even a smartphone.
Well if Bloomsberg is right that will change this fall. According to Bloomsberg:

“Verizon Wireless plans to sell a new Nokia Oyj phone with Microsoft Corp. (MSFT)’s Windows 8 software this year, marking the first time it has released a Windows device since May 2011, a person with knowledge of the matter said.”

While I don’t use Verizon I believe that this is a necessary step for a real comeback in the states. Hopefully this will be on Verizon’s shelf longer than the 2 months Microsoft Kin made it.

Wording is a bit awkward. Most people in the US won’t know that “Oyj” means “company” in Finnish, and might think the new Verizon phone is code-named “Oyj”.

    Wait– is it???

I agree that Verizon needs a Nokia – a huge number of my friends are on Verizon and love the signal coverage. I have to admit, as a loyal T-Mobile fan who enjoys a very reasonable phone bill each month, I am sometimes slightly jealous of those Verizon customers who are merrily chatting away on underground train platforms or deep inside buildings and my phone says zilch signal. But then that’s why they have a $1million phone bill every month! 😛
